DVR Slowing only at night
Been trying to figure this out for the last couple months.
Have called DirecTV a few times regarding it and have had techs come out to resolve the issue.
The client is using a the Whole Home service (Swim) and has a total of 4 boxes.
2x HR-24
2x HR-21
Around 11pm every night the clients HR-21 (called Office) slows, to the point where he can not control his DVR at all. But only when viewing recorded shows from another DVR.
Can not figure this is out. If you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

What do you mean by "... slows, to the point where he can not control his DVR at all."? What sort of "control"? Remote control response?
Has he tried resetting this DVR?

Sorry was doing multiply things while typing this and omitted some data.
After 11pm he is not able to control his box using the supplied remote from DirecTV. We have tried other known working remotes, resets, and a new box. The thing that gets me is why only at/or around 11pm this happens. Why is this not consistent?

Does he have an LCD HDTV? Some LCD TV backlights emit a lot of infrared energy that interferes with the DirecTV remote signals. He can test this by simply turning off the TV, pressing the remote's CHANNEL UP button a few times, then turning the TV back on to see if the channel changed. Some LCD TVs automatically adjust their backlight level based on room lighting, so perhaps that's why it only happens in the evening.
The solution is to change the DirecTV remote to RF mode. Follow the Remote Setup steps under the DVR's Setup Menu.

Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.

Yes, it is a LCD TV. The remote is running through a Hot Link (IR emitter). http://www.hot-link.com/pages/carrier_frequencies.cgi
Also, more omitted data, this only happens when they are streaming recorded shows from another DVR. It does NOT happen when watching live television.
Your solution has not been thought of and it is much appreciated.
