Yes. You’ll show the account number to the FedEx or UPS employee when you return equipment. Be sure that the receiver (s) being returned are deactivated from your account and that you keep the return label so you have proof of return.

My mother in law passed away and I am returning her equipment. How do I get the account number?

You can sign in via her account online at directv.com or call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below). You'll need the phone number on her account, billing/service address, account holder name, four digit passcode (if applied) and the equipment info being returned. What is the current status of the account and equipment? Was it already disconnected by your mother? Was the equipment deactivated? It would also be helpful if you provided the receiver models of the equipment you are trying to return. Usually, the surviving spouse takes control of the account.

Her husband canceled the service but is 92 and doesn't have any of the information. Thanks I will call.

Thanks for the information. As long as the account and equipment are both disconnected/deactivated, you can take the necessary equipment to a participating FedEx or UPS facility with the account number. As stated before, it's crucial to keep the return label to avoid non-return equipment fees that may occur in the future.
The receivers and power cables get returned. Dishes, wireless video bridges, power inserters, remotes, and other randomized cables don't get returned. If you can, provide receiver model numbers so we can tell you the equipment that SHOULD be returned.

Hey @Madasla, we want to offer our sincere condolences for your lost. We're committed to work on this.
We want to share with you the steps to return your equipment, and if you need to find the account number, you can check one of her bills. It's normally located in the top left corner. In case further assistance is needed, please check your DIRECTV Message Inbox (It's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

If any of the boxes are returnable, when you take them in make sure to get receipt showing the shipper took possession.
