Equipment upgrade caused problem

After the latest firmware upgrade, when I activate my tv and satellite box, my AV receiver also comes on, which it never did before. I use it only when I watch movies on HBO or DVD.  Also, there is no sound for 30 seconds or so. I have to shut the receiver off manually. The only way I can keep the receiver from activating automatically is by pulling the HDMI cable from the back of the TV. Any ideas?

Are they connected using HDMI cables?  If yes, then it's likely that you have "HDMI CEC Control" enabled on one or more of those devices. HDMI CEC Control enables devices to power on/off along with other devices.

Got a notice on my television that my DVR and receivers are out dated. I’ve been trying to get the upgrade to HD since October. Direct TV keeps giving me the run around, telling me they need their supervisor approval to submit the request for the upgrade at no cost to me per the letter I received from Direct TV. Why is this taking so long to resolve? I’ve called so many times. I can not watch my local channels which are primarily the channels my family watches since November 5, 2019. I’ve been a loyal customer since 2000. At this point, I would be embarrassed to recommend Direct TV to family and friends. Great customer service. NOT!
