keep getting error code tv does not support this programs content protection.  I've switched the HDMI cord, restarted the receiver, refreshed the receiver still to no avail.  Followed every step recommended for this error code as listed on the PDF for troubleshooting.

@teetertotter you gave all the good suggestions, the only thing I could add onto that is the receiver model number and what HDMI terminal is the receiver currently connected to (i.e. HDMI1 or HDMI2) because HDMI1 usually has content protection but HDMI2 and HDMI3 don't. Also, if all of our suggestions don't satisfy the issue, then you could try a Component/AV connection from the receiver to the TV. This consists of a red and white wire for sound and a yellow wire which delivers the video. If you were to have an HR54 receiver or client, this would require an adapter.

No, all the HDMI inputs have content protection.

@detuch254 they would want a composite cable for high definition not component.

Is the box connected to the TV directly or is there something else between them (HDMI switch or something else)? High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a bit flakey, especially the more you add to the chain.

At extreme you may need to unplug power from all devices, verify each HDMI cord is secure and free of debris on both sides, and then power on one at a time verifying working before checking the next device. Either this will clear the HDCP handshake issue or at least narrow down which part is causing the problem.

nabukl - no, you need component cables. Composite will only give you SD

@TexasBrit I know I screwed that up, @detuch254  mentioned the yellow video cable of the composite cables, I meant to say component cables give you the red blue and green hd video
