Even / Odd Transponder signal strength at zero
Starting a new thread here--copied my reply to another user with this problem....
I am having the exact same problem, and sure could use some pointers. Have been through three service calls in three weeks--and on third H20 receiver too! Total installation is only five weeks old....
Location is Charleston, SC.
Current issue is all EVEN transponders (all 16!) on 101 degree satellite have zero strength readings.
On the 119 degree bird, of the eleven transponders, all of the ODD numbers are reading zero strength.
On the 72.5 degree satellite, of the 24 total transponders, all of the ODD numbers are also indicating zero strength.
Difficulties started during lightning storm which hit a telephone line somewhere, killing the first H20 dead (as well as a printer/fax in the house).
Second (reconditioned) receiver and third (brand new) experienced frequent picture drop out. Fix was to use component cables vice HDMI cable (tech on phone call said he just got the e-mail on that problem today--seems to occur with H20's frequently)
Most recent tech visit resulted in changeout of 6 x 8 multiswitch--which seemed to have fixed the problem of missing channels for about 36 hours. Now back to before, with many missing, and as stated, zero strength on many transponders, and all others in upper 70 to upper 80.
I get similar readings on a regular (non-HD) receiver on another set in the house.
I have gone sort of goofy for surge suppresors now. I have the lead going to the receiver going through one, too--could this be causing some of my problem?
Next service call is a week off (Friday)--any ideas?
