Failure to receive some channels, some Transponders reads Zero

Older Sony SAT-B3 Receiver not receiving channels 157, 280, while other are intermitently received.

Transponers 4, 12, 22, & 25 - 32 read zero.  Tranponders 17, 19, 23 & 24 vary from Zero to a peak of ~ upper 40's.

Have replace RG-6 cable (50ft) and added a Bi-directional cable TV amplifier, with no change in condition / improvewment.

What is next step to correct problem and receive missing channels ?

that receiver is too old and probably not have the necessary memory for the guide data.   Call DirecTV to request a replacement Receiver/DVR.  It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation.  Otherwise ~$20 for shipping.  Or ~$50 to have a tech come replace it for you.

You might go for the $50 option because your dish may need attention as well.  If you spend the $20 on a self install then another $50 for a service call.  Well, you get the idea.  I'd guess you've gone years with no service so $50 at this point shouldn't be too hard to swallow.
