Feature Request + thanks 3 DVR's working well

I have three DVR's networked on a wired Gigabit network and all three are working great.

One feature that quickly came to mind is the ability to Manage Recordings on any DVR from any DVR. I realize this really doesn't have anything to do with Multi-room viewing but when you setup programs to record it would be easier to SEE all the managed recording from the DVR's in one place.

Having three I sometime have to go to each TV and see if I already have that TV Series recorded on another DVR or wait until I see the episode pop in to the List twice.

And I agree with another post, I hope this does not cost too much. Buying these DVR's and paying the monthly rates are tough enough these days.

Well.....I'm jealous cause I haven't gotten to play with MRV yet:0)
I only have one HD DVR(which has the MRV upgrade) and one HD Receiver(which hasn't). But I believe MRV gives you the ability to flag all DVR's to allow "deletion" of any content from any room. Help me out here....do the "duplicate" recording show up in a "folder" with the content name like they do if you record the same program twice on a "standalone DVR"??? If they do, you can "Manage" that perspective by enabling all DVR's to allow deletion from any room, search MRV for "folders" and delete the duplicates wherever you are currently viewing the Playlist. Think about it....sharing a Playlist across networked DVR's is pretty slick and took some extensive "coding" to accomplish....but trying to integrate the complete DVR "functionality" across multiple DVR's on a network......we'll let you code that program:0)

I have one more request...

I'd like the option to mark recordings to show up ONLY on the DVR it is recorded on. For Adult rated or R rated Content I don't want to see in the list on other DVR's. We already have the parental feature on so they can't view them without the unlock code, but it would be nice that the program does not show up at all on other DVR's.

djdice...
Yeah, you can delete the programs from any DVR and you can choose which DVR to delete the show from as it is clearly marked with the DVR Name beside the program description. Being able to delete is great. Sorry to hear your's is not working. Just thought it would be nice to see from any DVR...

Managed Recordings on...

Living Room DVR
Recording Program A channel 200
Recording Program B channel 100
Recording Program C channel 210

Master Room DVR
Recording Program F channel 10
Recording Program G channel 5

Game Room DVR
Recording Program Y channel 500

and be able to at least see what you have lined up to record on other DVR's. Maybe the DVR your controlling can be editable and the other DVRs could be read only. That way I don't setup to record program "A" on the Master Room DVR or on the Game Room DVR so I don't get duplicate recordings of the same series or shows. Seems like a little feature but it would help manage the future recordings.

I agree with this feature request. At this time I have 2 receivers and would like to see a master list for managing recordings. I would also like the option to select the receiver a program is to be recorded on from any of the networked receivers.

I also have a concern with the cost of this option and feel the current fees should more than cover it. DirecTV should look at this as a marketing feature over AT&T's U-Verse 4 tuner receiver. You can expand the recording abilities far beyond U-Verse. This look like an equalizer if not a win for DirecTV.

There is a way to do this currently. Limit all of your adult themed content to 1 DVR, then choose to not share the playlist on this specific DVR. That DVR will still see the other playlists, but the other DVRs will not see this one.

Good Luck!!

Nice idea tech_1438 and that would work for some, but that implies that I have a lot of Adult and R rated shows to record. May work great for some, but for our family we only ever have about 2-4 shows recorded any any given time with this kind of rating. Hate to dedicate an entire DVR to only a couple recordings.
