Freezing Picture on Playback

I ran the diagnostic hard drive test  Short Smart test.  Got a fail ox77.  Called tech support.  They do not recognize this test and want to have someone come to my house to look at the system--not replace it.  Waste a day waiting for them to show.  Very frustrating dealing with directv.   I have been with DTV for 13 years and the equipment doesn't last nearly as long as it used to and tech support is much more limited than they used to be.  Very disappointing.

 

Any suggestions.

Call DirecTV again to request a replacement Receiver/DVR.  It's free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan, or within 90-days of installation.  Otherwise ~$20 for shipping.  Or ~$50 to have a tech come replace it for you.

The trick is to convince the CSR that your DVR has failed.  For whatever reason they use a different set of failure codes.  If the box simply would not even turn on for example, the CSR would ship you a replacement.
