Genie 2 noises

I am occasionally hearing faint noises coming from my receiver. It is almost as if you can hear the bass from a song being played in the far off distance. It doesn’t seem to happen all the time, but when it does it’s hard to ignore, at least for me. I know certain noises are normal, such as whirling, etc., but I was wondering if what I’m describing is supposed to be happening. The receiver is several years old so I am trying to determine whether I should have it replaced or do all of them make this type of noise?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

The only two moving components in the Genie DVR are a fan and hard drive. Either one of those could be making some noise.

The cooling fan is only supposed to come on if it is hotter then normal.
