Genie with mini-genies

With a Genie DVR and 3 wireless genies how many programs can be watched and/or recorded at the same time?  This would include watching already recorded programs.

Depends on which Genie you have, the HR44/54 Genies have five tuners so if you are watching live TV on all four TVs you will only have one left for recording, watching recorded programs don't use a tuner so if nobody is watching live TV and only recordings you have all five tuners to record.

The HS17 Genie2 has 7 tuners so if your are watching live TV on all four TVs then there are 3 tuners left for recording.

That depends on what Genie DVR model you have.  What is its model number?

Genie (HR34, HR44, HR54) is a 5 tuner HDDVR with 1TB recording space.

Keeps 2 tuners to itself because of Picture in Picture (PiP)

So only up to 3 Clients may be used at the same time. They don't have tuners, so each steals one from the Genie, and no recording space of their own.

So you can be watching and/or recording up to 5 channels at the same time as long as it is within those limits.

It is highly recommended to have HDDVRs instead of Clients (especially wireless ones). Not only is wired better than wireless per the nature of the technology, but each HDDVR has 2 tuners and 500GB recording space. Clients go down if the main Genie goes down as they cannot work by themselves.

Genie-2 (HS17) has 7 tuners and 2TB recording space.

Server tower, doesn't go on a TV, so is one more box installed then you have TVs.

No PiP as Clients can only use 1 tuner each.

Can use up to 7 Clients at the same time.

However, it FORBIDS HDDVRs so is hard capped.

A regular Genie and 2 HDDVRs is 9 tuners, more than the Genie-2 could ever reach.
