HD box can't locate SWM

I moved the Power inverter from one location to another.  In doing this, I made sure to swap the connections on the splitter so the new location is on the first port of the 4 port splitter for the DC Power.  My HD DVR box that has the PI connect to it is working fine.  My other HD box is connected to the second port on the splitter and it is giving the 771A error that it can't locate the SWM.  I found an installation guide online and my install is exaclty the same.   What am I missing?

recheck that the cable from the reciever that has the PI is going to the port on the splitter that is RED.  Also, is there a wall plug close to the splitter?  If so, the easiest thing to do, whould be, remove the PI and short jumper from the reciever and go to the splitter, find the RED port, install the jumper, then the cable to the reciever, while doing this, unpulg both recievers.  After moving the PI, then go to the main reciever and plug it in and wait for comple boot up.

Bottom line is, with a swm system, it is critcal that the pi is on the port that is RED.  This is the only port that will pass power to the LNB.

You can have a single reciever on port four and the pi on port one and the reciever will work just fine.

bart   go to page 27 and that is the way I decribed in my privous post.  By doing it that way you can move things around with no problem.

OK, I am configured back to page 26, but I have it working by using the RG6 wire that is directly connected to the splitter.  If I have the wire connected to a wall plate and then another wire going from that to my Receiver it does not work.  Is there a limit on the length of RG6 coax that can be between the splitter and the receiver?

within your house the length of the cable does not matter.  You say that when you connect to the wall plate the system does not work, did it before?

How you running this wire between the splitter and the reciever, across the floor, down the hall?  I take it that this is a differant cabel?

Did you try the setup on page 27?

I think I narrowed the problem down to the cable in the wall possibly not being screwed completely into the wall plate connector.  I only had very long and very short sections of RG6 cable left, so I ended up using a medium length of RG59 that I had to connect the wall plate to the IRD.  Everything is working now.  Thanks for the confirmation on the length of cable as I will need to re-run this to the other side of the room eventually since this is just a temporary location until I get the mount and cabling done through the attic to the other side of the room.   As to where I ended up putting the Power Inverter, I stuck with page 26 location since I am short on outlets near the 1x4 splitter and TV #1 location will never move.

Thanks for the help

The very best installation of the power inserter is to connect it to a cox feed to the red port of the splitter totally independent of any receiver connected to the PI output.  Use one of the splitter terminator caps to cap the "signal to IRD" port.
