HD Receiver to SD Dish

I have a HD DVR receiver installed at my primary residence (HR24 500).  I would like to occasionally move the HD receiver to my vacation home which has a SD dish already installed and a SD TV on premises.  I understand I may not get local programming at vacation home as I might be out of SPOT coverage.  I understand I may also have issues with the new DirecTV HD Programming Guide operating with a SD TV.

Question:  With the HD receiver at the vacation home, would it be easier to simply change the receiver configuration to recognize the SD dish, or would it be easier to simply upgrade the SD dish to a HD dish?

Just change the Receiver Sat type in setup-meaning that is easier than installing a a new dish afterall you will be on vacation.Laughing

Conversely, changing the dish may be a one time high level chore, but it would be a one time thing and subsequent vacations would be simpler, and best of all, in HD.
