HD-DVR acting strange

I have the HR22-100, haven't had it that long, less than a year.  But there are two issues I've noted. 

1.  When the HD-DVR is in pause and it goes to the screen-saver mode, the paused image "flashes" through the screen-saver screen at raqndom intervals.

2. The other issue is this unit does not hold live tv in pause for more than 90 minutes.  After 90 minutes, it comes out of pause on its own.  My previous NON HD DVR did not have this issue.  It could be on hold for 2 hours or more.

So what is going on here?  Is issue #1 a problem and is issue #2 a limitaqtion?  What?
