HDMI output not working through A/V receiver
When I connect my DirecTV receiver directly to my TV via HDMI cable, everything works fine. But, if I try to connect via my A/V receiver using HDMI, I do not get any audio or video. Funny thing is, I have been using the DirecTV receiver via the A/V receiver for months. It just stopped working one fine day. I have tried using different cables and different ports on the A/V receiver, but no success. I have also tried resetting the DirecTV receiver.
I would really appreciate if anyone could help me.
My setup is as follows.
DirecTV Receiver : H24-100
A/V Receiver : Onkyo SR TX308
TV: Samsung LCD

have you tried other sources on the AV receiver? this is to rule out that the AV receiver is not the problem.

Yes, I have tried other HDMI ports on both the TV and the A/V Receiver. the A/V receiver has three HDMI inputs, and the TV has two HDMI inputs. The DirecTV receiver has only one HDMI output.

no, I am referring to other devices such as a blue-ray player, PS3 or something of that nature.

Yes, I used a DVD player on the same HDMI port of the A/V Receiver and it works.

Does the H24's HDMI output work if you connect directly to the TV instead of the AV Receiver? I can't think of any reason why it work connected to the TV, but not through the AV Receiver, unless there's some setting on the AV Receiver that's messing it up.
What happens if you press the Receiver's front panel RESolution button to cycle the video output resolution (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i)? Do any of those work?
You might also check the appropriate thread for your AV Receiver at http://www.avsforum.com in the AV Receiver Forum.

The DirecTV receiver works when connected directly to the TV via HDMI. I'm not convinced the A/V receiver settings are to blame. I have used the DirecTV box via the A/V receiver for months.
As for different resolutions, I have enabled all the 'lower' resolutions on both DirecTV as well as the TV.

Not sure what else to suggest. If it works when directly connected to the HDTV, then you know that the Receiver's HDMI output is working normally. That points the finger at the AV Receiver. Check out the relevant thread in the AV Receiver Forum at AVS Forum to see if anyone has had this sort of problem with that brand/model AV Receiver.

I do not have anything specific but I can tell you my experience here on the forums. I have responded to hundreds of posts regarding the signal is not passing throught the AVR and I cannot recall a single case that was not corrected by some setting in the AVR. I am not familaiar personally with your model, but most have HDMI in assign and HDMI stripping settings that sometimes a single press of a AVR remote button will mess up.
