HIssing/static noise
Hello,
We got DirectTV service in December. It's a standard DVR. There has always been a background hissing/static noise on all channels. The actual program's sound is fine; in fact I'm loving the surround sound. But during quiet moments in a program's dialogue/music/sound, there is a distinct hissing noise that is quite annoying. We do have the system hooked up to an Onkyo surround sound receiver & surround speakers, but I don't believe that that's the source of the hissing noise because we never had any hissing when we had cable, nor is there any hissing when we watch a DVD or play a video game. It's only when we watch DirectTV programming or listen to the music channels. Also, when we record a program and play it back the hissing is still there; even when we pause the program instead of silence there is a very audible hissing. It's quite annoying because I enjoy turning up the volume on a good movie to really enjoy the surround sound. I will add that there is no snow or ice on the dish either.
