How do I hook up an off-air antenna to my DVR and be able to record the local channels?

you  need the AM21 OTA tuner accessory.  available by calling DTV or logging in to your account online for $50.00

But the op asked that he/she wanted to record the OTA channels on the HR24, thus the AM21 is needed.

AM21 connects to the DVR's USB Port and provides integrated off-air reception and recording in the DVR's program guide.  It has two built-in ATSC off-air TV tuners.  You can order via your DirecTV.com account.
