hooking up and using a dvd recorder

i bought a dvd recorder at a yard sale recently its a cyberhome dvr 1200 dvd recorder with progressive scan playback i would like to hook this up to my hd dvr reciever .... its a directtv hd dvr the model is HR24-200 ... my tv is a rca 32" inch flat screen model # L32HD31R...PLEASE HELP ME IM USALLY PRETTY TECH SAVY BUT THIS ONE IS OUTTA MY HANDS.IVE NEVER HOOKED ONE OF THESE UP BEFORE

Keep in mind that the DVR recorder is strictly SD and that you already have a state of the art HD recording device in the HR24.

yeah i know the dvr is awesome its just getting full and i want to record some stuff on to dvd so i can free up some space because college football is bout to start lol thanks by the way

so do i have to have a seperate av cord (red yellow white)
