hooking up wii

Ok im a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff so please excuse me... Bought a Wii trying to hook it up 1st should i put the 3 cords that are yellow red and white into my tv or into direct box? Second what are input channels??? And how do I find them??? Help!!!
