How do I determine if a satellite dish in non-functioning?

We have several dishes on the rooftop of our condo building. Do I call a DirecTV tech person to determine which ones are non-functioning/not in use so we can remove them? Or can our electrical handyman determine that and if so, how?

The property owner owns them to do what they want.  Best to leave the mounting plate attached to the roof to prevent leaks.  DTV will not do anything to a dish except to align it.

I appreciate your comment but it does not answer my question. We are aware that we own the satellites. The question is: how do we determine if they are non-functioning so we can remove them?

Tell you tenants to notify you if they lose service then disconnect them one at a time and wait a day or 2.  Hopefully nobody is on vacation.

We have 10 satellites on the rooftop and 24 units. This method won't work. I know there's a way to determine if a dish is "live/in use" or not.
