How does DTV stay in business
If the subscibers of DTV applied the same rules to everything else in their lives they would have to tighten the lug nuts on their cars weekly, have blackouts at least every week, replace the food in their fridge every week due to the lack of cooling....
You get my drift, myself and it looks like numerous other customers have to reset their receivers weekly to have everything work properly. I continue to be amazed by a couple of people that post on this forum who seem to say customers should not be demanding that DTV fix the issues with their equipment....
I guarantee that if your computer or internet required to be reset weekly to work properly, these same posters would be up in arms with those companies.
Please DTV work on your quality of your devices, to make DTV a great company.
Thanks

DTV have close to 18 million customer in the US alone. judging how good the company is by this site is very bias. Because only those with problems post here. the happy ones, are enjoying their service, and rarely post here their success.
I am very confident that if you watch any other company help forums, the same would apply. only those with problems post, while the other ones are enjoying their product.

My DirecTV equipment works great and has none of the issues you mention. The VAST majority of DirecTV customers have zero issues. You cannot extrapolate the posts in forums like these as representative of DirecTV's nearly 20 million customers because folks only come here if they have a problem.

So both of you do not have to reset your "red button" to keep everything working correctly? Items like slow response from remote receivers while watching WHDVR. audio not matching the video, and more?
If not, it sure does seem to be the general response to most issues listed on this forum.
Or does this mean both of my new H25 receivers are bad?

I don't have any of these issues either. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I have had to do an unscheduled reset any of my equipment, and I have been with DirecTV virtually since the beginning. But I have a completely controlled installation, properly made connectors, great signal strengths and so on.
Most issues that people have are caused by problems in their installation, and often they are transient and can't be reproduced. Remember that the receivers are computers running very complex programs and just like your PC they do encounter software issues from time to time. There are also often installation issues that take a lot of diagnosis to find. If it's happening often (more than once every couple of months for sure) then there's a root cause that should be found and corrected. But as both peds and litzdog posted, we only see here the people who have problems.
So why are you resetting your receivers weekly? You should not need to do that.

Read my second post. I have had DTV out twice to check the complete system. NPF

Take a look at your power inserter. Compare it to the pic on the left. If it looks like that, then making it look like the pic on the right may make significant improvement. This anomaly was discovered after the Whole Home DVR system was released but many installers continue to put in the PI using both ports. I'm also attaching a schematic of how your system should be wired.
