How strong is the signal on RF-type remotes?

I'm thinking about upgrading my remote from the IR type to the RF type. Is the RF signal strong enough to pierce through obstructions like a cabinet door?

Sure.  that is the exact purpose of RF remotes.

RF remote can operate up to 100 feet from the Directv receiver. The distance is less than 100 feet if batteries are weak. Also some walls, ceilings, or floors reduce the range.

My RF remote's signal will pass through an adult human body.  I know this because a couple of members of my family routinely stand in front of me when I'm watching the tube.
