HR 10 Functionality when Not Activated

I'm due to recieve the new HR 20 this Friday but I'm keeping my HR 10 (mostly because I'm concerned I might have the sort of horrible experiences some HR 20 users are having and would like to have a ready fall back). Since I've got quite a lot of stuff recorded on the HR 10 that I won't be able to watch before the HR 20 arrives, I was thinking of just keeping the deactivated HR 10 connected to my tv along with the HR 20 so I could continue watching what I've recorded there (or until I've watched everything I care about).

So, my question is: will the HR 10 function in this way when deactivated. I know I won't receive any new programing - it won't even be connected to any coax coming from the dish. But can it be used simply to watch shows already recorded?

Thanks!
