HR21 Recievers

I had the old HD DVR Direct TV first offered. They contacted me about an upgrade tothe HR21, I had an HR20 in another room and wanted the upgrade. The tech guy brought one out and it was defective. He had another unit on the truck which was installed and worked ok for about an hour before the audio would go off for a few seconds here and there and then the video started doing it. We had the tech guy out again, he tried to replace with another, it was also defective. He located another unit on a buddies truck and was to return with it, but his buddy had to use it as the other he had was defective as well. My limited experience would indicate 80% of the HR21's are defective. Is it just me or do others have the same problem with Direct TV's equipment being defective more times than not. I am not sure which legal term should be applied here, whether it be deceptive advertising or bait and switch. The customer service reps even admit we can send you out a receiver but it is a 50/50 toss up as to what you will get! Every time I have an issue, even a simple upgrade or change out of equipment it involves the tech person to come out to the house a minimum of twice each time and mulitple phone calls and they still never get it right completely. I have had Directv for over ten years now, but it is now to the point I need to look elsewhere. Anyt suggestions; i.e. cable vs Dish Direct
