HR24 and B Band conveter

I just upgraded to HD.  The tech put in a new 5LNB antenna and ran a line down directly to the receiver... now multi for SWM switch or multi-switch.

I actually wanted a dvr so i ordered one and completed the installation myself.  I have two cables coming down from the antenna.

Now here's where it gets interesting.  The technician had installed a B Band Converter on the receiver.  I assumed I would need that.  The DirectTV techs told me that I did not.  To take it out of the equation.  Well, that does not work.  i get maybe one or two stations.

When i have the B Band Converter on the line going into the SAT2 input.  I get most stations.... perhaps all.  But i cannot view any other shows while recording on another channel.

If i swap the cables and have the B Band Converter going into the SAT1 input, I get channel 40. That's it.

In contrast to what the DirectTV technicians on the phone told me the Weakness website  says you need one  B Band converter if you are not connected to a SWM.

i've run setup countless times.  Another DirecTV tech comes out tomorrow morning.
