HR24 Receiver keeps freezing even after multiple resets
I just recently had my whole house outfitted with the whole house DVR (July 1st). Ever since, the main DVR keeps freezing while watching live and recorded TV. This has become quite annoying and seems like it's getting worse. I've reset the receiver multiple time and it doesn't make any difference. Is the receiver faulty.

Maybe. You can check the hard drive using the built in self test. If that checks out, then post back and someone will provide a grid so you can check your satellite signals.
Run the Built in Self-test (BIST) to try and repair your hard drive. To run the hard drive checks, please follow these steps:
* Reboot DVR via red button inside card door.
* When you see "Running receiver self-check" press select
* You will see "Entering Diagnostics Mode..."
* Select Advanced Tests Menu -> Hard Drive utilities -> Short Smart test
You can also run the file test, and the DVR can sometimes repair a bad file report.
* If the other tests pass, run the surface test. Warning: This process could take several hours to complete. You may want to run it overnight.
The good news is that every attempt is made to save programming. This is less destructive than a reformat all and could provide you with a more stable system if you are having problems that appear to be related to the hard drive.

Wow! I ran the self-test and turned out there were 2 errors, so I called customer service the those particular errors require a receiver replacement. So I will have a new receiver on Wednesday! Hopefully, this will fix all the problems. I will say the person I worked with in technical support was really wonderful and the call took no time at all. This is why I have stuck with DirecTV since they took over Primestar many years ago. I am pretty happy with the service I received today.
