HR24-200 receiver error message 21-72-916

My HR24-200 receiver fails to respond to remote commands after a few hours of non-use.  Only after reseting by unplugging does the receiver respond.  A few hours later it again fails to respond and I have to reset yet again.  I get error message 21-72-916, with text saying there is a fault with the storage device, when I run the system test.  Is the receiver shot?

Maybe, if you are using an RC6X remote with an "R" in the model number in it like RC6XR you can try putting it into RF mode to eliminate the IR receiver as the problem.

I should also mention that the receiver completely shuts down, rather than just merely failing to respond to the remote.  It disconnects from my whole home network.

Error 21 can be a serious issue with your DVR's hard drive ....

21 - Internal storage error detected.  This may be a simple initialization error or a critical fault.  Reboot the box.  Replace if problem continues.

Thanks litzdog911.  Yup, that's the message I get.  I was afraid it could be fatal.  I've rebooted several times and the problem persists.  Likely time to replace.

DTV may not have an HR24 to replace it with so you may have to upgrade to a Genie with a new 2 yr contract.
