HR24-500 installed yesterday, have blank recordings

I just switched from SD Dish to HD DirecTV yesterday, and first have to mention that the picture is beautiful, installer was great, but menus are not as intuitive as Dish. I remembered to write down all the shows we recorded regularly and was able to set up series recordings. When I went to watch some last night and this morning, I get a grey screen and a prompt to delete now.  There was a movie I was watching before I went to bed and I hit record, and that one is blank, too - even though I was watching it just fine live!  Can anybody help me, please? The installer provided his cell phone, but I hate to call on a weekend.
