HR24/500 not finding network receivers

I have an HR24/500 installed with three H24/700 recievers.  Installed yesterday and all worked fine with whole home. Today it cant find the other receivers.  I do not have the DECA and was told by Direct TV that these receivers do not require the DECA.  I have seen conflicting info in this forum as to the need for the DECA.  Ethernet cable is plugged into the HR24/500 and goes to my wireless router.  Again,  all worked fine while the tech setup yesterday.  Anway, how do I get the whole home to work?  Thanks.

You need a DECA module to bridge the DECA network to your home network/internet.  You can't simultaneously use the HR24's ethernet connector and its internal DECA adapter.  Disconnect the ethernet cable from the HR24 and reset it (red button behind the front panel access card). That should restore your WHDVR service.  Then contact DirecTV and request the "internet connection installation" to get a DECA adapter that can bridge from the WHDVR/DECA network to your home network/internet.

I disconnected ethernet from back of reciever.  Pressed reset button.  Went through reset.  Pressed menu on remote.  Whole home still does not show up.

Sorry, went and checked the other recievers.  Hit list on remote and the recorded shows appeared in list.  Thanks.  I have seen elsewhere in this forum and was told by direct tv that no deca was required for the HR24.  Guess that was bad info.

Try resetting the other receivers too, not just the DVR. That should get them all on the same page as far as the network setup. It may also take a while to rebuild the DECA network because there's no DHCP server to provide IP addresses.

That info was correct... the HR24 and H24 don't need DECAs because they have them built-in. However, the system itself needs one DECA to make the connection to your Ethernet/Internet. This DECA, called the Broadband DECA, has its own power supply and is not associated with any particular receiver.

With the Ethernet cable plugged in to the HR24, its internal DECA was disabled so it could not communicated with the other receivers via the DECA network.

Awesome.  Thanks.  I will contact installer and have him come out with the DECA.  Is that something that I could walk into Best Buy or a retailer and hook up myself.  It would probably save me lots of time to just do this myself.  From the diagrams it looks pretty basic.

You won't find tham at any local retailers. There are actually two options... up until recently DirecTV was using their standard DECA for the broadband DECA. These, as well as the required Power Supply,  are readily available from online dealers like solidsignal.com and on eBay. Recently however, they started using a different DECA, designed to fit in better with other network equipment (functions the same, just looks better). These are not yet available outside of DirecTV as far as I know.
