There is no HR25, more likely a H25.  These do run hot.  Make sure there is space around it and it isn't in a closed or cramped space.  If you like, you can hold and press the info button then select more system info.  The internal temp will be listed and you can post that back.

yes you are right it is a h25/500 pressed the info button but it shows everything but temp.  If this reciever is known to be hot is there a fix or a solution?

pres and hold the into key then scroll down to the temp.  this receiver run hot, as they dont have a built in fan.  nothing that you can do about it.  just make sure that the receiver is not in an enclosed location with proper air flow

the H20, 21, 23 being bigger receivers have more cooling space.  the H24 runs warmer because is smaller that its predecessors.  then the H25 runs even warmer because is even smaller then the H24.  but why is its bothering you that the H25 runs hot to the touch?

it is hot even when it is off and if it is hot it is burning electricity and is a fire hazard

My H25 is pretty warm, too.  But it's hardly a fire hazard.  And DirecTV Receivers use the about the same amount of power whether they're "on" or in "standby".  But if you're really worried, certainly call DirecTV and request a replacement.

You need to carefully read my instructions.  I said "you can hold and press the info button then select more system info."  It's a two step process.  Post back the recorded temp and we can tell you if the box is normal or not.
