I have a winegard HD system in the RV and a Genie setup at home

I have an H24 receiver in the man cave. I take this receiver with us when we go camping. I am worried with all the cabling and uncabling that I will end up damaging the unit. I would like to be able to leave the receiver in the RV so I bought another H24 and tried to set it up in the man cave. Obviously this did not work.

I called to try and get an access card for the H24 but it isn't possible to have a decent discussion with the call center.

Yesterday I was on the phone for an hour and then got disconnected. The person on the line today would not provide the same service that I was told yesterday we could have.

I would like not to have to add another access card to my account and to be able to just move the access card between the two H24s.

Is it possible to marry one access card to two H24s?

@rayclark each additional receiver activated on the account costs the customer $7 per month. Although it isn’t possible to have one access card work on two receivers, I have heard of people who were able to swap access cards between two receivers.

You should call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and ask specifically for a new access card. This will cost $20. When you call to activate the new H24 you bought with the $20 access card DIRECTV gave you, act as if the H24 is a new and additional receiver that they sent you. This way, the agent has no reason to believe that it was received via a third-party source and they will activate the receiver manually. I have used this method in the past and it does indeed work as intended.

No, not possible. And unless you got that second HD Receiver from DirecTV, they won't activate it. You'll need to add a second Receiver onto your home account with its own new Access Card. Then you can take that box with you and leave it in the RV.

Thanks for that answer. I was really hoping not to have to pay a monthly fee since the genie and it's remote and the H24 don't get used at the house when we are on the road.

So continue to use the existing H24, DTV doesn't know if you are using the service or not.
