Inside Dish?

Hello, I have been told I cannot put up a dish on my apartment according to my landlord. I live on the top floor (3rd). Is there any other way I can get DirectTV for my apartment? Can it work through a window? I have a South facing window and 2 West facing windows. Also is there a way I can have the dish on the ground without having to run a cable up the building?
