Intermittent pixelation, access card shows heat stress

Was loosing tv shows and recordings due to pixelation/ black outs.

Have an HR44-500. Blew any dust out of the casing and when I removed the access card to blow out the slot, I noticed brown spots around the chip end of the card. Could this be the cause?

I've been a customer for years, would I have to get a new contract if I need a replacement. BTW, I also have been paying insurance on the devices.

Sat signals are in the high 90's

I doubt that's the cause. It's common for those access cards to show stains from heat exposure. More likely it's a reception issue, especially if it's happening on lots of channels. Did you check the signal readings on all of the satellites (99, 101, 103)?

Replacing a defective DVR should not trigger a new contract. Just don't accept an "upgrade", because that will.

Thanks for the reply, yes all sats are in that range. Guess I'll get out a good book to read while I wait for customer service agent to pick up when I call.
