Intermittent reception issues

I am experiencing intermittent reception issues on certain channels. My recordings are skipping while viewing some programs, I notice it most when viewing recording of the USA and SyFy Networks.  When it happens, I find that I miss words throughout conversations and it is gradually getting worse.  It doesn't appear to happen on any local channels so I'm thinking that it may be the setting of the satellite but I don't know how to correct the issue.  What can I give you to help troubleshoot this issue?

Here are my peak signal settings:

Satellite in 1:

1-8    90  87  86  95  79  94  85  94

9-16  79  86  79  95  73  95  80  94

17-24  70 100  72  93  79  95  85  95

25-32  84  94  86  0  93  95  86  95

 Satellinte in 2:

1-8   90  86  84  95  77  93  87  94

9-16  79  86  77  95  77  94  80  94

17-24  70  100  71  92  79  95  83  95

25-32  81  93  86  0  92  95  85  95

It is correct that transponders on 28 received no signal.

Thank you!

Casi

Looking at your signal readings AND the type of reciever you have  I would say that it is time to upgrade your reciever.  1) that reciever is over 15yrs old and 2) the processor and/or the hard drive is on the bottom edge of going dead, especelly if it is only happening on a couple of channels.

Those signal readings look fine.  Yes, it's normal for transponder 28 to be zero in your area.

Your old Tivo DVR's hard drive might be developing issues.  When you notice a skip, what happens if you rewind slight?  Does the skip repeat in the same spot on the recording?

Mine is doing the same thing. But it won't let me rewind or fast forward but still when viewing recorded shows it skips.

Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page.  Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's.    With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far.  And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.

Thanks!  Yes.  When I rewind, it skips in exactly the same place.  It's as if there was a huge storm-type disruption at the time and that's the way it was recorded.

Do you have other DVRs or Receivers?  Any problems like this with them?

I'm actially watching the USA Network live right now, not recording the show, and it is happening again.  Could it possibly be a reception issue?

Check the signal readings when you're seeing the problem. The readings you posted are fine, which suggests a problem with the DVR's tuner or hard drive.
