Internet Access

HR22 has stopped connecting to the internet!  There was no problem until two days ago!  I have tried to reconnect but have had no luck! This receiver is at least 10 years or more old!

Do you have any other receivers or just the HR22? How is it connected to the internet? (i.e. Wireless Cinema Connection Kit) Have you tried re-running internet setup by going to Menu, Settings & Help, Settings, And Internet Setup?

The HR22 can't connect to WiFi without an external WCCK, you only need a connected home adapter connected to the coax to split off the internet to connect to the RJ45 port on the HR22 to add it to the Whole Home system and the internet.

Hi @larrys37, thanks for using our community forums.

Let's work together to find out the root cause of the issue with HR22 receiver. Please follow this basic troubleshooting.

Also, we kindly recommend you to run a speed test to check internet status.

Please, let us know how it goes. We'll be attentive to your answer.

Juan you can’t run a speed test if there is no internet on the receiver. Regardless, only the Genie HD DVR can perform a speed test.

@larrys37 your setup is incorrect. The HR22 shouldn’t be the one that is physically connected to the Internet. The Genie HD DVR receiver should be as it shares the internet with the rest of the receivers. The HR22 just needs the broadband DECA adapter. What is the model of your Genie? You can wire it via Ethernet or wirelessly if it is an HR44/HR54 receiver.

The HR22 should only be connected to home interent invidiually if it is not on the same coax network as the Genie. This is regarless of if wired or wireless. The reason being is the Genie is designed as a server, which includes serving the internet connection to all boxes on the same coax network.

If the HR22 is on a separate coax, say a detached garage with a separate dish or similar, then it can be connected to internet individually.

As a note the HR22 does not have wireless capability built-in. So when you say wireless do you mean a CCK-W? If so, and the HR22 is on the same coax as the Genie, you will need to unplug that and red button reset the box (make sure coax is finger tight first). Otherwise that connection and the Genie's will fight each other with your internet router. A overlapping setup like that should have caused issues long before now.

As a side note, if you have a Genie and 2 recievers (so 3 TVs total) avoid all offers of "upgrading" to a Genie-2 (HS17). A Genie and 2 HDDVR receivers is more capability than the hard cap of the Genie-2. And avoid Mini Genies as those are Clients, not receivers, so have no capability of their own and instead still resources from the main Genie.
