Internet connection problem
This is hard to explain, so bear with me. I have a whole house system. The DVR (HR22-100) in the family room is hooked to the adapter. It was connected to the internet through a powerline unit. For the past few weeks, the internet has gotten increasingly slower. Of course, I figured it was the fault of my provider.
A few days ago the internet stopped working. At the same time, my living room DVR stopped sharing the recorded list. The other two units (HR22-100 & HR24-200) still shared between them. After much plugging and unplugging, I have found that when the living room DVR is connected to the powerline it stops sharing and my internet system, based on a Westell wireless modem, shuts down. Even if I plug a cord directly into the modem and a computer, the internet will not work. The fault is with the DVR. I can plug its ethernet cable into a laptop and it works fine. The same is true if I substitute a different powerline unit. The problem is only when the cable is plugged in to the DVR. Right now I have the DVR disconnected from the internet and the recording sharing is working.
Any Ideas?
Sorry for being so verbose, but I don't know how else to explain what's going on.

What's going on is that you're mixing Ethernet technology with DECA technology. With Whole Home DVR service you cannot connect any Ethernet cables to any of the receivers or DVR's (except the short jumpers coming from the DECA modules). Your powerline adapters won't connect your system to your router and should not be used. The best way to connect to the router is via a coax cable from the splitter to the router and a BB adapter connected there to bridge the coax to your router. The second best way is to use one of Directv's wireless Cinema Connection kits. Either of these options will connect all of the HD receivers and DVR's to the router with the single connection.
The hard wired connection has been an integral part of all Whole Home installations since Jan 1. If your system is relatively new, call Directv and ask that they return and install the BB adapter.

your explanation is as good as any, especially for somebody who can barely set a thermostat! I looked up the Cinema Connection kits and it gives no cost. Do you know it there is a purchase cost/rental fee involved with getting one?
By the way, thanks. This one had me flummoxed.

It should have been provided for free. Call and see if they'll still do it for you. Otherwise installation is ~$50.
