Is my receiver RF capable?

I want to put my HR23-700 receiver in a wooden cabinet with the doors closed. If I understand it correctly, I would need an RF remote to make it work. Will my HR23-700 DVR work with RF remotes, and is the remote that came with it an RF remote.... How can I tell? I also have an R22-200 receiver that I could use instead if that one is RF capable.

Both of the models of receiver are RF capable.. A RF remote has FCC sticker on back. Or it could be one of these model #'s: rc24, rc34, rc32rf, rc64r, rc64rb, rc65r, or rc65rb.

Thanks.

Are there instructions on programming the remote somewhere?

Sure.  In the DVR.  Just follow the step-by-step instructions under Remote Setup.

Switching to RF mode is two stage process, first receiver then remote. Thats why its best to follow the directions in the menu. If the remote stops controlling the receiver half way through the process, you're on the right track.
