Is there a DECA shortage?

I originally had Whole Home DVR service installed 5-20-10. Installer updated my HD receivers and hooked everything up but he didn't have any DECA adapters. Called his supervisor who said he would bring them over the next day. Needless to say, that didn't happen. I have contacted DTV four times over the past week. They always apologize but still no DECA adapters. They finally told me that they are all out of DECA adapters and won't be getting any more until sometime in June. I find that very hard to believe. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Crazy.  Sounds like you have two options ....

  • Wait for the local installers to get their DECAs (they clearly didn't anticipate the demand)
  • Order them yourself from places like http://www.solidsignal.com

I suppose, depending on how well DirecTV anticipated demand, they might run short temporarily at a particular location. However, there's been no sign of any widespread shortages so far.
