Issue adding MRV to my account (No Decca)

I beta tested MRV over my network and it works perfectly so I called DirecTV to add MRV to my account and the first attempt did not go too smoothly so I politely go off the phone and called back. The second Rep I spoke to understood what I needed to have done and went through the steps to get me signed up. When she got to the point of adding MRV to my account it took the addition so the rep exited my account and asked me to verify that it had updated on my receiver. When I checked nothing had changed so she went back into my account and noticed that my account had removed the MRV service almost immediately after adding it so she tried to add it again and it did the same thing. After fooling around and calling other techs over she determined that it was nothing she could fix and escalated the issue and we ended the call. Well the next day I read on the forums to make sure that if you have 2 DVR’s to make sure that one of your receivers is listed as primary and to make sure that my channel package is up to date so I call DirecTV back and get a tech guy that was very knowledgeable and understood exactly what needed to be done but again when he attempted to add the service it immediately removes it. Out of curiosity I looked at my account online and noticed in my recent activity that MRV has been added and immediately removed from my account multiple times. I also noticed that I can click the add service button online and it will add the service but again immediately removes it. I have one HR22-200 and one R22-100 does anyone have any more ideas? Please help.

Yes, you are not eligible for the mainstream DVR service.  The R22 is considered by Directv to be a SD DVR and to activate DVR you need two HD receivers, one of which must be a DVR.  Before you write back and tell us how unfair that is remember the R22 came to you as a SD box, and if it fails you'll get a R15 or R16 to replace it.  If you want MRV, you'll need to upgrade the R22. Now, if you add another HD receiver to your account, the R22 will work with MRV no problem.  Check your account online.  Some folks have been getting a HD receiver very cheap, some even free.

I think the DirecTV "software" has special "logic" to torture customers with home networks wanting Whole Home DVR Service(therefore not putting $149 in DirecTV's bank account for a DECA install). In other words, no one on these forums probably has a clue why that is happening to you:0(

DJ,  You need to take the evening off.  You know I normally support you 100% but this original poster needs factual information.  I could not find any in your post.  His problem is simple, he only has one HD box because the R22 is SD.

dcd, Thanks for the quick reply. I was under the misunderstanding that I only needed one HD receiver to get this going. I will try to contact DTV tonight to see what my options are to upgrade my R22... Unfortunately I only got HD in January and signed a 2yr agreement then so I'm not sure that I will have much luck getting it really cheap but; I won't know unless I try right?

dcd,

Yeah, with my current attitude it would probably be best if the Forum Administrator just blocked my access to the forums completely.

Well, I bit the bullet called DTV and spoke to a very nice CSR. She offered to upgrade my R22 to a new HD DVR for $99+ shipping so I took the offer (I can't complain since I just got a HD DVR in January for free and it is cheaper than a DECA install). Now I am crossing my fingers for an HR24 I know I probably won’t get one but; one can dream.

The $99 is an excelent deal.  You'll have two HD DVR's at an out of pocket total of $99?  Remember, if you decide to keep the R22, it will function as full HD including MRV.

Just wanted to give a quick update:

I received an HR24 (The Gods must be smiling on me) from UPS today and got everything hooked up. I now have MRV and it is working perfectly. Because my account was flagged "U" a few days ago I was just able to add it to my account on-line without calling DTV. I am returning my R22 because I only have two TV's that I watch on a regular basis anyway but I don't believe I would have had any problems with it either. All in all I came away from this very happy. The process was a little rough (Mostly due to my misunderstanding) but; as usual DTV came through for me.

Great news, and thanks for keeping us in the loop.  If all you read was this forum you'd think that no one was happy.  Enjoy.
