Line of sight issue.

I live in a townhouse and there is an unfortunate amount of trees preventing me from having a good line of sight.  I had an installer come out and immediately say it wasn't possible.  I had another guy come out and he also immediately said I couldn't have a dish.  They didn't even appear to look around very much.  I asked about placing it on the roof and he said the trees were too close.  A guy a few doors down from us was also scheduled to have a DirecTV installation a few days later than mine and I figured he was going to have the same problem because of the trees.  His installer, however, ran a line pretty far down the street to a place where the line of sight was better.

How far are they able to run the line?  The guy apparently charged them extra to do it, but I'm definitely willing to pay because I don't really have any other options...
