Maybe. Depends on how bad the storm is, and how well your dish is aligned. Local channels are usually the last to disappear during bad weather because they're beamed from satellite "spot beam" transponders that tend to be stronger than the nationwide channels.
Note that if you lose your HD locals, if you switch the SD you may still get those. One tip. If you lose signal due to weather, do not hit the reset button. You may still have enough signal for partial viewing, but if the receiver is reset it requires a strong signal to complete the reset.
