Missing Channels
I noticed that one of our channels ( the 2nd 247) still had the 771 error coming up. We had a snow storm, but that was a few weeks ago and the majority of the channels came back some faster then others. Why did this happen and can it be fix on our own?
I am not the person in charge of directv and they are most likely do nothing about it.

771 is 99% a dish alignment problem.

@Grumpy1979 please provide me with your receiver model. This is a dish alignment problem guaranteed as other channels work. Once you provide the receiver model, I will instruct on how to go to the satellite strength screen on the receiver. There will be different numbers to represent each transponder that corresponds to each satellite that DIRECTV uses. Expect satellite 101 (SD content and guide data satellite) to have readings in the high 90s on all transponders. It is regular to see some with zero strength or low strength. Expect satellite 99 (HD satellite that has 247) to have strengths in the low to mid range of 90s. If you see some lower than 40, this can lead to error 771 because directv receivers will not receive signal on transponders with strength lower than 40. Finally, check satellite 103 (the 2nd HD satellite that directv uses) to have the same strengths as 99 with signals from the low to mid 90s.

Model numbers start with letters like H or HR. What are the 99 and 103 readings?
