Multi room beta

I had Multi room working and really enjoyed it but not it is not on my DVR. It is not seeing my other dvr. When this is finalized why will there be a charge to use it?

The Charge when supported by D* will requir new Hardware to be installed by D* the only version they will support will be DECA -Dedicated,ethernet,Coax,Adapter- it will require new RG6 to be installed that supports 3ghz of bandwidth.

The RG6 that most homes that have cable TV installed or Dish (NOW) the RG6 only supports 950GHZ to 1450 GHZ- That is why you are seeing posts that say " why did the installer say he had to replace my RG6" because it won't support future applications.

Electrically, the cabling requirements for SWiM are actually less stringent than they are for a conventional HD system. A conventional DirecTV HD system uses frequencies up to 2150 MHz while SWiM tops out at 1790 MHz. I doubt they'll be replacing existing RG-6 during SWiM upgrades and any upgrade cost is a separate issue from a monthly fee for MRV anyway. A MRV fee would be no different than the fees charged for HD access, DVR service, premium channels etc. ... added features cost extra.

Without more info on the OP's setup... receiver type(s), how they're networked etc., the only suggestions I can offer are to verify the network connections, try resetting the receivers, reset any network hardware (wireless adapters, router etc.) and try opting out of MRV and then back in.

Begin rant.

I'm sorry but that is just ridiculous. I have all CCS RG6 in my house and it works just fine for HD. There is a huge difference between being tested for and supporting. If my old RG6 had a 950-1450 range, it would not work for HD. 950-1450 is the Ku band range, not a testing range. Sweep testing was done for 2GHz before and 3GHz now. All copper center is needed for runs much over 75' for conductivity purposes. Just because a cable has not been tested for 3GHz doesn't mean it can't handle 2150MHz. Sure, I'll replace any coax that isn't doing the job if I ever have any and I use 3GHz tested stuff for new cables but this bit about replacing all the old coax and connectors because they haven't been tested is nuts.

Installers may have a DirecTV mandate to avoid callbacks but that is entirely different from what actually works in the real world. With a longest run of about 40', CCS RG6, white center barrel connectors and crimped connectors are working perfectly, even after I installed an SWM8 multiswitch.

End rant.
Yes, I can see a reason for the policy to avoid callbacks and customer installation problems but saying the old coax only supports 950-1450MHz is just bad science.
