National Rollout 5/13??

The week is finally here. Many comments point to the National Rollout on Thursday. Has anyone been able to confirm this?

No way to be 100% sure until it happens, but I'd give it 99% at least right now.

I understand that we are pretty sure that Thursday is the day. Any idea on what we need to do? Will be as simple as call for an appointment?

Yes, DirecTV should be prepared to handle your calls starting Thursday, May 13th.

I spoke to someone in "case management" late last week, and just as an aside i asked her how we sign up for the actual program. And she did say to call thursday, but also mentioned something about it being rolled out in phases nationally, so it might not be available in all areas right away.

I certainly hope that's not the case - but it if is, i hope ending the beta on 5/20 still lets me use the beta set up while i wait. Ive grown quite fond of this.

I would think a lot is going to depend on the work load placed on the installers in each area. Sometimes it takes a few day or perhaps even weeks for an installation under normal circumstances. If everyone in your area decides to order MRV on 5/13, it could take a while just waiting for an appointment.

Good info....thanks. As long as they start scheduling I can wait for it to happen. I would be nice to extend the Beta until you have the real service!!

It does, IMHO, seem kinda aggressive to cut off BETA just a week following the nationwide rollout. Guess they want their $3/month ASAP(or $149 plus $3/month for DECA signups). Seems like there's still no "official word" on existing networks "Opting In Connected Home":0(
I agree with user mtuhoop24, D* could extend the Beta out until the "first wave" of signups subsided. Guess it's probably a more difficult technical deployment logistic than we can understand.

I am sure that there will be a logistic nightmare........what equipment needs to be swapped out - charge or no charge for it etc. I understand that this is not like a software Beta.......once the software is available at the store or to download you are done.

Like the previous post stated. Would be nice to extend it until the initial wave has been installed.

I just hope that once I have an appointment that the installer has the right equipment the first time he comes out. I am willing to wait a little longer if that will assure that they will have the right stuff for my system.

I'll be calling Thursday, hope they have a good installer for this project here in the Wisconsin boonies. Have a fairly complex 7 receiver setup to tie together so I'll be needing a Swm16. Looking forward to getting it done.

Somewhere tonight some guy is scheduled for a hear transplant and it's his Doctor's first one. Personally, I'm gonna wait a month or two before I opt in.

since we have it set up all ready. Do we still need a tech guy to come out with new equipment? Can't we just call, and have them ad it?

mknightstalkerx,
That depends............on whether DirecTV's FINAL decision allows already networked "non-DECA" customers to use MRV. I think the jury's still out on that:0(

It may also depend on whether you want to use an unofficial, unsupported method that may or may not work in the future, or whether you want something DirecTV will guarantee to work and fix if it doesn't...

I think the point sungam is making(and one to be considered) is that if D* allows me to use my home network as is without DECA, I will be responsible for the $3/month MRV fee "regardless" of whether I develop network issues and can use the MRV feature or not. And if I do develop network issues I'm on my own and can forget contacting DirecTV for assistance(of course, I may get a little help from nice guys like users sungam or dcd here on the forums, who may help me once or twice before saying "djdicetn, just break down & get DECA":0)

Excellent point DJ, I've spent a lot of semi fruitless hours with folks trying to run Directv2PC and Media Share over wireless. I'm thinking that folks that want to use those features need to break down and get a hard wired system. Ditto for MRV users, break down and get a DECA system. All of thoise features are well worth the investment and combined they are cheaper than wireless adapters.
