NBA League Pass games won't playback on DVR the next day
I have had the NBA Season Pass for over 15 years. We receive it through Directv, which enables me to record the games and watch them later. I specifically record the Laker broadcasts. In the last week I have recorded several games to watch later and the playback was blank. Only the broadcast time showed across the bottom of the screen. After the first game did that, I checked the next game to see if it was recording. I started playback at the beginning and the broadcast was there. The next day I go to watch the game and again the screen was black. The next day I then recorded several other games with almost the same result. 3 of the 4 games did not playback and 1 game did. (See attached picture. It shows a game was recorded but there is no image on the screen) And I understand about how national broadcasts don't play. But they won't record at all, nor can you watch them on the NBA channels (748 and above). Our DVR works perfectly except for this so I'm guessing it has to be some kind of coding with the broadcasts. Can someone please let me know what is going on? No one seems to having an issue with this so I don't know what to do.

if you have a platform like roku that has the nba app (or just on your phone or tablet), you can login with directv provider to access league pass on the nba app, and there you can watch replays of games. i did so on two rokus and it wouldn't work until i closed the app and launched again for some reason (it can also act weird on my tablet unless i close and reopen the app)

I have the same issue here. I can't always watch the games the same day, and this is a change in service that doesn't work for me!

Finally! So I'm not the only one. I knew it couldn't be the DVR. Why didn't they announce this? They should have let us know .

I'm having the same issue with Center Ice NHL package on Directv. I started watching a game on the day it happened and it was working fine on my dvr. Then the next day I went back to finish watching and just had a blank screen, time bar on the bottom of screen was only thing working. Just one more step in thinking it's finally time after 28 years to move on from Directv.

Same thing here, calling them now. I feel like we went back to 1985 before the VCR was invented where you have to always be there when the "show" is on. So frustrated.
UPDATE-Just got off the phone with DirectTV. They are "aware" of the situation and it is happening with NBA and NHL package customers on the recording and playback with no video or audio. He said it is a coming from the networks and not DirectTV. They are hoping it gets resolved soon. Thats all I got.

Thank for following up on that. I might have to try cable again too. Some games will play back and some don't. I paid $20 shipping for a new receiver, which I now know won't change anything, so I have to pay to send it back again....

I'm having the same video and sound issue when watching recorded games the next day. Hope they escalate and fix soon. An alternative is to watch past games on the NBA app. That works with your Directv login.

I did a test for the last Center Ice hockey game I watched, I recorded on the Center Ice Channel (770) and the channel the broadcast was actually on (Fanduel Detroit 663). Both recorded fine the day of the broadcast and were exactly the same, but the following day the 770 recording was just black screen, but the 663 recording I could still see. This work around should keep me satisfied for now...

This is sounding like the same problem that the MLB had, the only fix is to record the RSN feed when possible. Not sure if there was a fix for the MLB.

Are there additional channels besides the ones allocated for the NBA Season Pass to record?
I recorded both feeds (the local broadcasters for each team) for the Celtics and Pistons game last night and both were blacked out with the time stamp at the bottom, so this is still happening....

I'm having the same problem with NBA League Pass. NHL Center Ice as well. Nothing but a blank screen when you go to play it back.
Very frustrating! Very disappointing!!

Maybe a response from DIRECTV is appropriate to keep us updated and to let us know they are aware and working on it. Or tell us the truth and just say sorry guys this is what you are going to have. They are Afraid of that because of loss of customers. Easier to string us along. How about a discount or refund since this is not giving us the whole thing we signed up for previously. Corporate greed at its finest again.

It may not be a DTV problem to fix. Any money you paid for Center Ice or other premium channels goes to the respective owners so DTV can't refund it unless the owners agree to it.

I believe that is correct. Somehow the feed is encoded so the recording will disappear the next day. I watched a game I DVR-ed earlier last night and the next morning it was gone. But what's maddening is it is so arbitrary. Some games are there the next day some not. No way to know which. There should be something to tell us which ones it is.
