Need Remote Code

The only oem remotes with preset code for directv receivers are only made by UEI, same company that makes the Directv remote. And if your onkyo remote were made by UEI, the code would be 1377 or 01377.

Another reason to hate directv. Any other service, i.e. cable and I could program my sony universal remote to control my stinking box, but nooooooo, not directv.  What a crock.  I have never had such horrible service, or so much trouble with any other cable provider.  Even Comcast, which i detest, has moved up in my book. 

Aftermarket universal remotes have a preset codes, or could be taught the commands, its just oem remotes that are missing a preset code.

That doesn't make any sense. In your first post, you say only oem remotes made by UEI have the preset code for directv receivers and that other remotes won't. Now you are saying the aftermarket universal remotes have preset codes and oem don't.  When I go to the Sony website for my universal remote, it allows me to search for preset codes for various devices and brands, ie. AV receivers, digital satellite receivers, digital tv tuners, vcrs, dvd players, etc.  Directv is not listed under any category. Which means there is no code for a directv receiver for a Sony universal remote. I am sure that is the case for other universal remotes as well, but I don't know. I have tried to "teach" my remote to control the directv box, but when I get to the point where i am searching for the correct code by alternately hitting the power button and the channel up button and the box powers off and i hit enter to lock the code in, it does nothing after that. Doesn't control the box or anything.....  

An oem remote is an original remote included with such equipment as tv's, dvd players or whatever. Aftermarket universals are remotes sold alone, the remote is equipment.

What is the model of the Sony remote? The rm-vl600 is the first sony universal to have a code, its 3214. If its the rm-vlz620, its code 41377. Seeing that rm-vlz620 is made by UEI. Remotes like vl900, vl710, vl2100 don't have a code because they predate codeset used by current directv receivers.

Yes, I have a RM-VL600, so I will try that code. Thank you for the info. It's too bad that every dealing I have with directv is like pulling teeth, trying to get info or service, etc...  Can't wait to move out of these apartments so that I can drop directv like a bad habit.

Sony code 3214 in the vl600 is for directv receivers set to IR mode, using default codeset 00001. What is the model of directv receiver?

If you attempted to teach, you'll have to erase the taught commands before it will accept preset code.

The receiver is Manuf. 100 and Model D12. 

Looking for the Directv receiver code for a Denon RC-1043 remote control now please. It should be a 3-digit code.....  

Is there a manufacturer's brand name for Directv receivers or are they manufactured by Directv?  I am baffled by not being able to find remote codes for Directv receivers....  It's almost as though it is a state secret with them.  What gives?

there are no codes for the current line of directv receivers in any other oem remotes then the pones manufactured by uei, then the code would be 1377 or 01377. All other oem remotes DO NOT HAVE A CODE, period.
