Network has gone nuts - HELP
Installer came out today and added the HR24 to my two existing HR22's and turned on WHDVR.
I had the HR22's on a very solid gigabit home network. He added these small white boxes to my 22's which from what i've read in here are the DECA's. He also left my live network cables plugged in. (The 22' have 2 ethernet ports).
As he was telling me it was all working and was walking out the door I tried to access the guide and it froze. The installer told me to wait about 30 min. it was doing a download and it would be fine. So i mess around ad see all my receivers are locked up as well as my blu ray player thats on my network. I notice that all the connected llights on my router and switch are flashing like crazy along with a light on the DECA and on the back of the receivers.
Sooo. I unplugged the short ethernet cable on just one of the 22's that was running from DECA to the back of the receiver and everything stops flashing and starts working smoothly.
It appears i have all the shows from both DVR's available on all three receivers.
So are the two HR22 DVR's communicating thru my network and the one deca that's still pugged in making the HR24 see the HR22's
My question is can somebody tell me what exactly is going on,how its communicating and what is the proper way to set this up???
I want to have have internet at my receivers to be able to do on demand content......

The installer didn't know the proper procedure, leaving the Ethernet cables connected is an absolute no no. By disassembling a portion of the DECA system, you now have a odd ball combination DECA and Ethernet wired system and you'll probably have lots of troubles. Here is my recommendation. Disconnect your Cat5 cables in all locations. Reconnect the DECA Ethernet jumpers (the HR24 doesn't require a DECA) to the receivers top ports. Do a red button (inside card door) reset on each receiver. That should restore full Whole Home DVR function.
Call Directv and ask that they return and install the TV Internet Connection service. It will involve a coax splitter to which is attached an additional DECA module with independent 18 volt power supply. To that module you will connect one of the Ethernet cables that are connected to your router. That will connect all of your receivers to your local network and the Internet and still allow Whole Home to function properly.
You cannot ever connect any Ethernet cables to Whole Home boxes, only the system I described will work properly.
