New H24 runs hot, and lights are always on

A recently received H24 works well, but it's very warm 24/7.

When I shut it down (either by the remote or on the receiver), it seems only the power indicator fades, that's all.  The internal blue lights do not change at all.  I'm aware that some things must be running or on standby at all times, but should not those blue lights change at least a little?

In addition, those blue lights annoy me during the night, reflecting on my window blinds 10 feet away.  I can't turn the receiver in another direction, otherwise I can't use the remote from bed. I also do not want to cover the blue lights since they are shining thru ventilation holes.

Do I have a bad receiver?
