New HD Guide Issues
This new guide is quite slow and has terrible response. Is this normal? A very disappointing upgrade, bad enough that it is unlikely I will continue to subscribe. Wondering if others are having these issues or were able to get this fixed. For example: When use to delete a recording, it was instant. Now it takes 5 to 10 seconds staring at a progress bar. Every other function works just as slowly now.

Give it a few days to settle down. Lots of background tasks during the first 48-72 hours.

Dear dbhawk. I too have experienced an extreme slowing down of certain functions. I have two HR24's and have had problems "accessing the PlayList" and "Deleting". It takes 20 seconds to "access" and 20 seconds to "delete" on one unit and 2 MINUTES to "access" and 2 MINUTES to "delete" on the other. The only difference is the size of each unit's hard drive. The 500 GB drive takes 20 seconds and the 2 TB drive takes 2 minutes. You can read more details at my post: "New Hd Menu: 2 minutes to access list of recorded programs". Litzdog911 suggested to wait 48-72hrs for things to "settle down". It's been over 2 weeks since I received the new HD GUI and it still takes just as long to access and delete. Please contact DirecTv Technical Support to let them know about your problem. The more complaints they receive regarding this issue may motivate them to solve our problem. Good luck!

i also have the hr24.....i have 2 hd tv's on it and 2 non hd tv's on it........i never had a problem using the rf remote between them.....i could use the remote changing channels..using guide etc on the non hd tv's with no problem b4.....now when i use the remote on the non hd tvs i have to hold down the exit key and tell the recvr that these are non hd tvs.....it then accepts this and then they work ok....but when doing this it also changes the screen on my hd tv's to non hd screen.....so when i want to watch tv on my hd tv' s i have to tell it to switch back to hd.....this causes a real problem with a rf remote when you have all your tv's on in the house and are going betweeen them.....i go between the kitchen tv and the living room tv every few minutes when im in the house during the day......

We have a different problem with the new Guide. The text lettering is just to small for us seniors to read from a normal viewing distance. Is there any way the font size can be increased?? There must be many customers with the same problem - - wonder why they would decrease the font size and call it progress??

There are no font size settings. Be sure to email your feedback directly to DirecTV to ensure they see it.

Guide installed last night. This morning my non-DVR HD receivers could not view the list of recordings on my HD DVR via the usual wireless connection. Anyone else see this issue?

Best to start your own new thread using the "Create New Post" button on the main forum page. Your problem may very well be different from the original poster's. With a new thread you can provide more information about your equipment, location, and troubleshooting you've tried so far. And this forum software makes it difficult to track or respond to folks that add onto someone else's thread.

Just great, spent all this time setting up my room with 3 or more TV's (one HD and and two old SD sets) and now they make the guide incompatible with the SD sets.
FWIW I also called and registered my complaint, which I would suggest others do since this was done by design. They need to feel out pain or well be stuck with this dumb set up. The agent I spoke to said they were already getting calls about this.
Seriously, what engineer decided that people would only have either 1 HD or 1 SD TV hooked up to a receiver that has both HD and SD connections enabled at the same time?
Nearly most hardcore customers (I guess if I was really hardcore I'd have all HD TV's) are going to be upset by this, not the people with one TV and one Receiver set ups.
Happy customer since 1995. Now upset customer in 2012.
