New Install No signal in heavy rain this morning

I had Directv installed on Friday.  @ 3 a.m. this morning I heard the heavy rain and decided to turn on my DS12-100 in my bedroom only to find an error and nothing was on.  So I went to the satellite and only thing under satellites is 101a and SWM.  The 101 reception was 0% and I just realized now that I didnt test the smw.  Most of the transponders read 0 except  for 5 or 6 of them that read 60-80.  Everyone talks about rain fade but I had a total loss, is this normal thanks

yes, is normal for satellite to go out in heavy storms, and that phenomenon is called "rain fade"  it should not last too long.  when the weather clears take a look at your signals readings.  the 101 should be 95 or better with some 100's in there.
