New install: status = solid amber, network = solid blue, activity = off
I have a Whole Home networked HR23 DVR.
Its ethernet port is connected to a switch connected to both the whole home network and a wireless range extender, for internet access.
DVR -> switch
switch -> whole home network
switch -> range extender -> wlan -> wireless router -> nomad
Just got a nomad and connected it to my wireless router per install guide, but according to troubleshooting the LEDs indicate it cannot find any networked DVR.
I have verified DVR is connected to the Internet.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

You do not have a supported Whole Home DVR system unless you connected that Ethernet cable to the range extender after the fact. The Whole Home system connects to a router via a coax signal cable through either a DECA BB adapter or a Directv Cinema Connection Kit. Those are the only two options.
When Whole Home was in BETA there were no DECA adapters available so the Beta testers connected the system via Ethernet cables. If that is what you are running then the wireless range extender may not be doing the job. Most of us ran Ethernet cable to the router so as to network all of the HD boxes via a single connection. On any one of your DVR's press the right yellow arrow button and see if you get "TV Apps loading"? If so, you are connected, if not, you aren't connected.

Gotcha.
I put a hub in between the Ethernet connection between the DVR and the Whole Home DECA adaptor, worked fine for VOD, TV apps, and whole home, but apparently not for Nomad.
I just put a Cinema Connection kit in and now the DVR is directly connected to the DECA adaptor, and the nomad is working as well.

Good for you, the Cinema Connection Kit was the answer for you. In a Whole Home system, you cannot use the Ethernet port for networking. Of course the DECA adapters connect to the Ethernet port on a number of DVR's and receivers but not for connection to the router purposes.

Ok, so I have an HR22 DVR. I have two ethernet cables connected directly to my standard high def receivers in other parts of the house. This setup works great for whole-home DVR.
What I want to do is connect everything, including an internet connection, to a switch. Will this work? Giving me both whole-home dvr and internet to all of my receivers... In concept, it seems like a no-brainer.

That setup is unsupported and Directv is increasingly reluctant to activate such a system. But, will connecting everything to an Ethernet switch work and then connect that switch to your router work? Yes.

your new and improved list and guide being blue and letter font being over bold is almost impossible to read i have yo get up to read the guide
who was the dummy that came up with that stupid brainstorm. my suggestion is to go back to the way it was. sometimes trying to improve things makes it alot worse than what you had
